# How do I grade a graded discussion in SpeedGrader?

You can grade and provide feedback on [graded discussion](https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Instructor-Guide/How-do-I-create-a-graded-discussion/ta-p/1019) submissions and graded group discussion submissions in SpeedGrader. Discussion replies will display individually, but the replies can also be viewed in the context of the full discussion in SpeedGrader.

**Notes:**

<div id="bkmrk-when-discussion-chec"><div>- When Discussion Checkpoints is enabled, the full discussion thread is displayed, with students' individual replies highlighted—even in non-checkpointed discussions.
- You will not be notified in the Gradebook of additional posts to discussions after a grade has been entered.

If the discussion replies are part of a graded group discussion, you can view the discussion replies in the context of the full group discussion by clicking the **view the full group discussion** link \[2\].

**Note:** To return to SpeedGrader from the full discussion, use your internet browser's back button.

## Grade Submission

If you [added a rubric to the discussion](https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Instructor-Guide/How-do-I-use-a-rubric-to-grade-submissions-in-SpeedGrader/ta-p/1015), you can view the rubric by clicking the **View Rubric** button \[2\].

### Grade Discussion Checkpoint Submissions

When viewing discussions in SpeedGrader the header remains sticky \[1\], a link allows instructors to switch back to individual posts \[2\], student navigation buttons include First, Last, Previous, and Next \[3\] and instructors can view the number of replies added compared to the required number of replies \[4\].

### Default Discussion View

Any comments that have been made by the student appear in this section, as well as in the [Submission Comments filter](https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Colder-Storage/How-do-I-reply-to-submission-comments-in-the-Inbox-as-an/td-p/256582) in Conversations.

To add a comment to the assignment, enter text in the **Comment** field \[1\].

To use a [comment from the Comment Library](https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Instructor-Guide/How-do-I-use-the-Comment-Library-in-SpeedGrader/ta-p/469482), click the **Comment Library** icon \[2\].

To attach a file to the comment, click the **Attach** button \[3\].

To record a video or audio comment, click the **Media** button \[4\].

If you are using Chrome, you can use the [speech recognition tool](https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Instructor-Guide/How-do-I-use-Chrome-s-speech-recognition-feature-to-leave-a/ta-p/677) to leave comments \[5\].

**Note:** If the assignment is supported by Assignment Enhancements, the Assignment Comments section may display as Comments for this Attempt.

## Save Grade &amp; Feedback
