# How do I hide totals in my students' grade summaries?

In Course Settings, instructors have the option to hide total grades from students. By default, students can see the totals for assignment groups when they [view their course grades](https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Student-Guide/How-do-I-view-my-grades-in-a-current-course/ta-p/493). However, for courses that use weighted assignment groups, the assignment group totals are always hidden from students.

If your course is using [Multiple Grading Periods](https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Instructor-Guide/How-do-I-use-grading-periods-in-a-course/ta-p/1030), this setting restricts students from viewing grades in any grading period.

## Open Settings
