# How do I insert stimulus content in New Quizzes?

When [creating a quiz](https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Instructor-Guide/How-do-I-create-a-quiz-using-New-Quizzes/ta-p/1173), you can insert stimulus content in New Quizzes. Stimulus content gives students a piece of content with associated questions.

**Note:** You can add stimulus content to an item bank. However, questions attached to the stimulus content are not automatically added to the item bank and must be added manually.

## Add Question

To add instructions for the stimulus, add instructions to the **Instructions** field \[2\].

**Note:** The title of the stimulus question is visible to students taking the quiz.

To format text or add media, links, or tables, [use the Rich Content Editor icons](https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/FRD-Colder-Storage/How-do-I-use-the-menubar-in-the-New-Rich-Content-Editor-as-an/td-p/261102) \[2\].

## Select Stimulus Options

To select where attached questions are placed in regards to the stimulus, click the **Orientation** drop-down menu \[2\]. You can place attached questions to the right of the stimulus or below the stimulus.

To add a source URL, enter the URL in the **Source URL** field \[3\].

## Add to Item Bank

## Attach Question

Then click the question type you want to attach \[2\]. You can also [select content from an item bank](https://community.canvaslms.com/t5/Instructor-Guide/How-do-I-add-an-item-from-an-item-bank-to-a-quiz-in-New-Quizzes/ta-p/589) \[3\].

All question types can be associated with stimulus content.

**Note:** If a question is not attached to the stimulus, the stimulus will not appear in students' quizzes.

## View Stimulus

To attach another question to the stimulus, click the **Attach Question** button.

**Note:** Each question attached to a stimulus will each appear next to the stimulus when the quiz is set to display one question at a time.
