New Faculty Onboarding

Welcome to New Faculty Onboarding

The purpose of onboarding is to support new faculty as they transition into the department, university, and broader academic community. This process is designed to provide the information, resources, and connections needed for a successful start, while helping faculty develop confidence in their roles as teachers, scholars, mentors, and institutional citizens.

Our goal is to create a welcoming and supportive environment that promotes early success in teaching, research, service, and student engagement. Through onboarding, faculty will gain an understanding of departmental expectations, university policies, available resources, and opportunities for professional growth. We recognize that effective onboarding is an ongoing process, and this knowledgebase serves as a central resource to help faculty navigate their first year and beyond.

By investing in a strong onboarding experience, we strengthen faculty success, student outcomes, departmental culture, and long-term growth of our academic programs.
