Computer Suggestions for New Students
When choosing a computer for a new student, it is important to look at the proposed major of the student. An Engineering student is going to have different requirements than an English student.
ITS suggests reaching out to the Department of the student's major in and ask if there are any specific requirements for a computer.
The only suggestion we make to every major is no Chromebooks. Chromebooks cannot install software; they can only install Google Chrome extensions. If a student needs to download software for a course, it is very highly likely that they will not be able to access it on a Chromebook.
