Student Email Shifting to Microsoft on Aug. 11

Student Email Shifting to Microsoft on Aug.11

Arkansas State is transitioning our student email client from Gmail to Microsoft. This transition will unify the campus email system and offer several benefits to everyone.

When will the migration happen?

The migration is scheduled for Sunday, August 11. Once it has occurred, all new incoming mail will be delivered to your corresponding Microsoft account.  Your student email address will not change.

Will my current email and folders be migrated automatically?

Existing items will not be migrated, but students can use the Google Takeout service to export their email, documents, etc.  Instructions for exporting from Gmail can be found in the A-State Knowledge Base

You will still have access to your existing Gmail account for a full year to view, copy and migrate emails and contacts, but the send/receive ability will be deactivated.  If you currently use your student Gmail address as your Apple ID or Android ID, you should switch to a personal email address before the migration.

How will I access my new inbox?

Student inboxes can be accessed through the web at https://outlook.office.com/mail/, linked to your smartphone through the native email client or the Outlook mobile app. You will also be able to access through the my.AState portal and the Outlook app on your laptop or desktop.
