Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU)
Since 2004, Arkansas State University has been a member of Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU), a consortium of more than 120 colleges and universities that partners with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). ORAU connects students and faculty with research opportunities at federal laboratories and promotes collaboration among member institutions.
Through the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE), the DOE facility that ORAU operates, A-State students and faculty have access to:
- Research appointments and internships across a wide range of disciplines, including:
- Business
- Earth sciences
- epidemiology
- Engineering
- Physics
- Geological sciences
- Pharmacology
- Ocean sciences
- Biomedical sciences
- Nuclear chemistry
- Mathematics.

ORAU's Office of Partnership Development also seeks opportunities for partnerships and alliances among ORAU's members, private industry, and major federal facilities. Activities include:
