Professional Development Events
The
Major Annual Events
These include two major annual events, the Summer Institute and Learn@State.
Summer Institute
The Summer Institute sessions are designed to inspire faculty to engage today’s learners in a 21st-century mobile learning environment. CETL hosts sessions during the summer to provide faculty with a variety of professional development opportunities to inspire and cultivate innovative teaching. These summer sessions are the perfect time to update your knowledge of new techniques and technologies to improve your professional teaching method. Another benefit of participating in the summer institute is the opportunity to develop collaborative relationships with faculty from across campus. When faculty work together in a summer institute, they inspire each other by sharing ideas and encouraging feedback.
Learn@State
Learn@State is a collaborative campus-wide event that brings faculty together to share innovative teaching practices, explore emerging technologies, and engage with A‑State’s academic technology partners. The event represents the combined efforts of CETL and the Office of Assessment, who previously hosted similar but separate faculty development events. Learn@State now unifies these efforts into a single, campus‑wide symposium focused on strengthening teaching and learning at A‑State.
Faculty interested in presenting or hosting a workshop are encouraged to submit an abstract or proposal through InfoReady, where the university maintains an up‑to‑date list of all active submission opportunities:

Ongoing Professional Development
In addition to our major events, CETL hosts a variety of one-off workshops, webinars, and training sessions throughout the year. These sessions are designed to support innovative teaching practices and cover topics such as instructional design, educational technology, student engagement, and more.
