FAQ
(FAQ) Frequently Asked Questions
What academic accommodations are available?
Accommodations may include the following: excused absences related to pregnancy or childbirth, make-up exams or assignment flexibility, and remote learning (must be deemed medically necessary by medical practitioners).
Do I have to tell my professors that I am pregnant or a parent?
Disclosure is the student’s decision. However, having effective open communication with your instructors can help you receive accommodations and support throughout your pregnancy in case an emergency arises.
What happens if I miss class due to pregnancy, childbirth, or childcare needs?
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal Civil Rights Law that prohibits discrimination based on sex, including pregnancy and parental status. When you have an open pregnancy and parenting case with the Title IX Pregnancy and Parenting Case Manager, you should be allowed to make up missed work without penalty. However, accommodations are not allowed due to lack of childcare.
