Core Agriculture
- Students will be able to demonstrate knowledge of fundamental concepts in agriculture, including agriculture business/economics, animal science, plant and soil science, and statistics.
Specific to Intro to AG Bus: Students are expected to demonstrate knowledge of the structure & organization of agribusiness and the principles of microeconomic theory. - Students will gain appreciation for the agriculture profession by participating in professional development activities.
- Students will demonstrate written and verbal skills for effective communication in agricultural sciences.
- Students will demonstrate critical thinking skills to analyze and synthesize relevant problems in agriculture.
Agriculture Education
Program-Level
- Content Knowledge: The student with an emphasis in Agriculture Education will demonstrate knowledge of the central concepts, tools of inquiry, and discipline-related constructs, which will create meaningful learning experiences leading to mastery of the
content. - Service: The student with an emphasis in Agriculture Education will participate in a variety of planned events to include county, district and state fairs, ASU Petting Zoo, secondary FFA Events, community events, educational outreach, and professional development events and activities to develop a broader perspective and appreciation of community involvement, and develop critical communication and interpersonal skills.
- Application of Professional Education Content: The student with an emphasis in Agriculture Education will demonstrate leadership and communication skills in the integration of disciplinary content and pedagogical concepts and use differing perspectives to develop instructional strategies to engage learners in critical thinking, creativity, and collaborative problem solving related to authentic local and global agricultural issues.
