Overview of Kaltura at A-State

Kaltura is Arkansas State University’s enterprise video platform for creating, storing, sharing, and analyzing instructional media. It supports faculty and students across multiple learning environments, including Canvas, MediaSpace, and classroom recordings.


? What Is Kaltura?

Kaltura is a cloud-based video management system that allows:

  • Secure hosting of instructional videos
  • Easy embedding in Canvas courses
  • Auto-captioning and accessibility features
  • Video quizzes with gradebook integration
  • Analytics to track student engagement

It is integrated with Canvas and available to all A-State faculty, staff, and students.

    Use your A-State credentials to log in and manage your media library.

  • Canvas Integration:

    • Access via My Media in the global navigation menu
    • Use Media Gallery in individual courses
    • Embed videos using the Browse & Embed tool in the Rich Content Editor

  • Media Upload
    Upload recordings made with other tools such as:

  • Express Capture
    Record directly from your webcam in the browser—no software installation required.

  • YouTube Integration
    Add YouTube videos to your Kaltura library to:

    • Replace YouTube links in Canvas
    • Track analytics
    • Include in galleries or quizzes
  • Kaltura Capture
    A desktop recorder for creating screen captures, webcam recordings, or both. Ideal for asynchronous lectures and tutorials.

All uploaded or recorded videos appear in your My Media library.

  • Embedded in Canvas or other websites
  • Published to a course Media Gallery
  • Turned into Video Quizzes with gradebook integration

  • Faculty who continue using Zoom after the campus license ends will need to manually upload their cloud recordings to Kaltura via MediaSpace or My Media in Canvas.
  • Microsoft Teams recordings are saved to OneDrive and must also be manually uploaded to Kaltura.
