Tuition Discount Information

A-State gives a generous discount of 75% off undergraduate tuition for most programs to its full-time employees and their eligible dependents. They also discount most graduate programs by 50%. Some programs are exempt from the tuition discount. Please check with the program or your Human Resources office to confirm program eligibility.

How do I apply for a tuition discount? 

Please complete the appropriate form to apply for the tuition discount.

What is the tuition discount for full-time employees? 

Undergraduate studies for credit or for audit on a space-available basis at a 75% discount on tuition. For graduate-level studies, waiver of 50% tuition is available.


Can I work in a full-time position and take courses during work? 

Yes! Employees, with supervisor approval, may take one 3-hour course during regular working hours. 


I am taking an A-State Online course. Is this included in the discount? 

As of January 1, 2021, full-time employees (not spouses or dependents) are eligible for a 50% discount on all A-State Online courses.


Can I receive the tuition discount in addition to a scholarship?

Persons who receive the tuition discount will have any university-sponsored scholarships adjusted accordingly. Persons who choose to accept a full-fee grant-in-aid or assistantship will be charged the regular tuition.


I submitted my tuition discount form. When will my bill be discounted? 

The discounts will be applied to billing statements a week before classes begin each semester. Contact the Treasurer's Office for questions about the application of your discount.


How do I know if my courses are eligible for the tuition discount? 

The following programs are excluded from the tuition discount program:

  • Doctor of Physical Therapy
  • Doctor of Occupational Therapy
  • Doctor of Nursing Practice in Nurse Anesthesia
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine

Am I eligible for a tuition discount? 

Arkansas State University regular, full-time employees and retired employees are eligible for the discount.


Is my dependent eligible for the discount?

Dependent children must be 23 years of age or less, unmarried, living at home or in a residence hall, and must be an identified dependent for IRS tax purposes on the annual tax form, or some other form of dependency documentation, such as a divorce decree.

What documentation is needed to prove dependent eligibility?

Proof of dependency and proof of age must be attached to the completed Dependent Tuition Discount Form for processing.
Examples of Dependency Proof:
Photocopy of prior year 1040 tax return (top portion only needed)
Photocopy of court ordered dependency
Proof of guardianship
Examples of Proof of Age:
Photocopy of Dependent’s driver’s license
Photocopy of Dependent’s birth certificate
Photocopy of ID Card issued by government agency with name and date of birth
